We believe in giving all Westminster residents the opportunity to thrive. The WLF supports efforts that work to meet the health, social and economic needs of members of our community that would not otherwise be met.
Current Basic Needs Projects:
Mobile Shower & Laundry Truck Program
Funding goal: $3300
We support the mobile shower and laundry truck program at Irving Street Library. Living Well Showers are a series of four fully functioning shower bays built into a mobile trailer and supplied with resources needed for community members to experience a free, warm and satisfying shower. Showers are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. They are available on Mondays from 9am to Noon.
The Laundry Truck, run by Bayaud Enterprises, is available at Irving Street Library from 9:30 am to Noon the first Monday of each month, weather permitting. Folks can drop off up to two 10 pound bags of dirty clothes and bedding. There are six washers and dryers which can do up to 30 loads while at Irving St. Washing and drying a load takes about 1.5 hours.
These programs provide a necessary service to those experiencing homelessness or other hardships within the Westminster community.
Supplying Basic Needs for Homeless Students in Westminster
Funding goal: $100,000
There are enough homeless students in Westminster to fill 40 classrooms. This means that more than 1,000 students in our community are homeless or unstably housed. We are working to supply these students with the most basic items they need: food, clothing, school supplies and toiletries. We have partnered with local nonprofits, as well as Westminster Public Schools, to ensure that these products are delivered where they are needed.
