Simplify Your Giving • Elevate Your Impact
At the Westminster Legacy Foundation, we recognize that your charitable contributions are a reflection of your values. We are committed to be a compassionate partner and creator of partnerships with your contribution. The foundation works to close funding gaps in our community that would not otherwise be met through support of local nonprofits and signature projects. If you value your community and the people in it, we hope you will make a donation to the Westminster Legacy Foundation now.
We invite you to join one of our Giving Groups below and invest in your community.
- Friends of Westy
$50 – $499
Westminster has a rich history of rural and urban development. Its history begins in 1803 with Jefferson’s Louisiana Land Purchase. Over the years, Westminster transitioned from high prairie grasslands inhabited by nomadic Indians, to an agricultural settlement named Harris, and finally to an incorporated city in 1911 when 35 residents approved its charter and separation from Adams County. Similar to our very first residents, supporters at this level have the opportunity to shape the future of Westminster.
- High Line
$500 – $999
Farms and orchards were once the economic backbone of Westminster, sometimes supplying apples to places as far away as New York City. The Farmer’s High Line Canal and Reservoir Company played a major role in the development of Westminster since both farms and orchards depended on irrigation. When the canal was built, farmers in the area stood with their guns to direct its path through their lands. Like those farmers, supporters at this level also play a major role in the development of Westminster as the foundation works to give all community members a chance to thrive.
- Westy 1000 Repeat
$1,000 – $4,999
Members of our Westy 1000 Club pledge to contribute at least $1,000 to the foundation each year, for at least three consecutive years, to sustain our organization and allow us to direct our resources based upon the three pillars of focus: (1) basic needs; (2) arts and culture and (3) conservation.
- Elevation 5,384
$5,000 – $9,999
We don’t like to brag here in Westminster, but we are 104 feet higher than the Mile High City. While our City sits at 5,384 feet, ever wonder what the highest point in Westminster is? In 1890 New Yorker Henry T. Mayham received approval to build a university on his land atop a hill overlooking Denver. He constructed the “Big Red Castle” with dreams of it becoming “The Princeton of the West”. This site is now owned by the Pillar of Fire Church.
- Gold Bell Tower Society
$10,000 – $24,999
Gold discovered in the South Platte River Valley in 1858 brought national attention to the area that would become Westminster, Colorado. The promise of fortune and the Land Act of 1862 encouraged many settlers from the east to make Colorado their home instead of heading on to California. Today’s prized gold is housed as the gold bell at the Westminster Bell Tower. 50% of your contribution will be utilized to support current projects or non-profits and 50% will be contributed to the foundations endowment fund providing assurance that we are building a sustainable source of income to support our mission. The Foundation will manage your gift, ensuring that it remains a source of sustainability, joy, opportunity and support for generations to come. Membership includes invitations to exclusive private events.
- Nancy Heil Society
In the late 1990’s, then-Westminster Mayor Nancy Heil had a vision. With charitable assistance in Westminster often divided according to county lines, Heil saw the value in creating an organization that could provide charitable support to the entire City of Westminster. Mayor Heil and a dedicated group of volunteers formed the Westminster Legacy Foundation in 2001 to support programs and projects that strengthen and enhance the Westminster community and our residents. What better way to honor the visionary that contributed so much to our community than the Nancy Heil Society giving level?
- Legacy Society
The Legacy Society was established to recognize donors who have included a gift to the Westminster Legacy Foundation in their will or estate planning. Members are are recognized for their forward-thinking gifts supporting the WLF mission and next generation of residents. You can also choose to remain anonymous – the amount of recognition you receive is completely up to donors.
A giving circle is a group of donors who focus their philanthropic efforts on their common identity or shared experience. We are excited to announce our giving circles as we know the community will embrace this opportunity!
- Apple Blossom Bunch
Our community is known for kids that care! This is an opportunity for our youth to come together and pool their dollars, decide together where to give the money (and other resources such as volunteer time); and learn together about their community and philanthropy.
Recognizing the growth opportunities that recurring monthly gifts can provide to non-profit organizations, our 360 Degree Circle invests in the development of the Westminster Legacy Foundation by committing to a recurring monthly donation of $30. Members of the young professional community often support the foundation as 360 Degrees members.
- Westy Under 40
This young professionals giving circle is an attractive channel of philanthropy donors under 40. Joining the Westy under 40 provides for a tiered structure of giving and the chance to connect with other like-minded individuals that are invested in our community:
